You’re playing a game online, and get beaten because you couldn’t hide fast enough. You’re disappointed – not because you have bad reflexes, but because your phone hung again.
We face mobile hanging issues like this all the time. Whether it’s being unable to pick up a call, or having to wait minutes before Google answers your questions, having your mobile phone glitch is always frustrating.
There are a few reasons that this could happen. Read on to know what the problem could be, and how you can solve it.
Low RAM
RAM is short for “random access memory” – it’s what your mobile uses to store data. A mobile phone with low RAM will not be able to support too many apps at once, and cause it to hang often.
Low storage space
Think of your phone like a cupboard. If you put too many things in it, it’ll get cluttered, and utilizing it well will be tough. Your phone, too, has limited storage space, and having too many apps or media on it will cause it to run out of space, and hang.
Malware
Downloading media or apps from unreliable websites can cause malware like viruses to enter your phone, and affect its functioning. Along with doing other inexplicable things like randomly opening and closing apps, and playing media automatically, phone hanging is a common effect of malware.
Obsolete software
Every phone has software it’s most compatible with, and using outdated software can lead to the phone hanging. Updating software can get rid of bugs that are causing your phone to glitch.
Overheating
Mobile phones usually have a temperature between 30° – 45 ° C, depending on the climate around you. Using your phone too much can cause it to overheat – which leads to it hanging. You wouldn’t function very well if it was too hot either, would you?
Now that you know why your phone is hanging, read on for a few tips that might be able to solve the problem.
Clean out your phone
Delete the apps you don’t use frequently, and all your unnecessary files. Media like videos, especially, take up a lot of space and can cause your phone to hang. Deleting these will free up space, and help your phone to work more smoothly.
Use an antivirus
Installing an antivirus will help to free your phone of malware and help detect suspicious activity, which will help increase its efficiency.
Update your software
Download and install the latest software compatible with your system to make sure your phone functions as well as it can.
Use external memory
Get an SD card, or transfer your media to your laptop or hard drive to free up storage space, so your phone doesn’t hang.
Factory reset
If none of the above options work, you can go to Settings and reset your phone. This will give your phone a fresh start, and ensure efficient functioning. However, it is important to get all your files and data backed up before you do this, as a reset will delete everything.
